Designing a reward ecosystem to increase engagement for AB InBev consumers.

Overview

The loyalty app developed by Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) is designed to strengthen consumer engagement and encourage repeat purchases across its beer brands.


The platform rewards users for their purchases by allowing them to scan QR codes or bills to earn points, which can be redeemed for discounts, merchandise, lifestyle rewards, or curated experiences. A tier-based system further recognizes loyal consumers with exclusive offers, personalized rewards, and access to special events.


By combining transactional rewards with lifestyle benefits, the app creates an ongoing engagement channel between the brand and its consumers, helping increase purchase frequency, expand the consumer base, and build stronger brand loyalty.

Objective

The objective was to design a loyalty platform that could encourage repeat transactions, increase consumer engagement, and create meaningful rewards while fitting naturally into consumers’ existing digital behaviors.

Research Insights

To understand consumer expectations around loyalty programs and their potential in the beer category, qualitative research was conducted by the client’s research partner agency with premium and super-premium beer consumers across metro cities.


The study explored shopping behaviors, familiarity with loyalty programs, and the motivations that drive users to participate in reward ecosystems.

Competitor Analysis Key Insights & Implementation

Many competitor apps require lengthy registrations and KYC before users can access the platform, often leading to early drop-offs. To address this, the onboarding experience was designed for quick entry with minimal upfront effort. Users can skip non-essential steps home screen quickly.
